Purpose / Who We Are

In a spirit of community collaboration and service, the Sexual Violence Service Coordination Committee (SVSCC) brings together organizations responding to the issue of sexual violence in our community. This committee is part of Waterloo Region’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Strategy. This committee was formally called the Sexual Assault Response Team of Waterloo Region (SART).

The SVSCC will:

  • Seek to improve service coordination to address and prevent sexual violence
  • Identify and address gaps in services and areas for improvement
  • Increase members’ understanding of others mandates to avoid confusion or duplication
  • Discuss emerging issues impacting survivors
  • Review difficult situations and work towards solutions, including anonymous case review
  • Support community consciousness-raising events related to sexual violence
  • Increase ease of service access in our community, with special attention to ensuring access for members of equity-deserving groups
  • Share information, resources, and professional development opportunities on sexual violence
  • Amplify and promote member agency’s programs and services
  • Providing support and networking
